Getting Started
Install Tickr in your Slack workspace and create your first task in under two minutes.
Tickr is an AI-powered Slack bot that replaces traditional project management tools like JIRA. Every Slack channel gets its own task board. You interact with Tickr through slash commands, @mentions with natural language, interactive buttons on task cards, and a personal App Home dashboard.
Prerequisites
- A Slack workspace where you have permission to install apps
- At least one Slack channel where your team coordinates work
Setup
Install Tickr
Visit the Tickr website and click Add to Slack. You'll be redirected to Slack's OAuth screen — review the permissions and click Allow. A 30-day free trial starts automatically with full access to every feature.
Go to any channel
Open the Slack channel where your team works. Each channel becomes its own task board — no setup needed. Tickr auto-creates a board for the channel the first time you interact with it.
Create your first task
Use the slash command:
/tickr create Fix the login page timeout issueOr mention Tickr with natural language:
@Tickr create a task to fix the checkout flow, assign to @carol, due FridayTickr parses your message and creates a structured task with the assignee, due date, and priority. A task card appears in the channel with interactive buttons.
Check your board
Run the board command to see all active tasks in the channel:
/tickr boardTickr shows a kanban-style overview grouped by status — Open, In Progress, Blocked, and Done.
💡 Two ways to interact
Slash commands are faster for simple operations (/tickr complete 01KH9DN3). @mentions are better for complex requests with natural language. Both produce the same result.
Key concepts
- Each channel = one board. Use channels to organize by project, team, or workstream.
- Task IDs — Every task gets a unique ID. You only need the first 8 characters to reference it. Even fewer work as long as they uniquely match one task.
- Nudges — Tickr proactively reminds people to update their tasks. No more chasing teammates for status updates.
- App Home — Click Tickr in your Slack sidebar for a personal dashboard of all your tasks across every channel.
What's next?
- Creating Tasks — natural language, slash commands, form modals, auto-priority
- Managing Tasks — update, complete, reassign, and list tasks
- Task Cards & Modals — interactive buttons, update modals, blocker modals
- Smart Nudges — how Tickr keeps work moving without micromanagement
- Command Reference — every slash command with full syntax
