Auto-Close
Tickr monitors your replies to nudges and automatically marks tasks as done when you use completion keywords.
After Tickr sends a nudge, it monitors your messages in the channel. If you reply with a completion keyword, Tickr automatically marks the nudged tasks as done — no slash command or button click needed.
How it works
Tickr nudges you
The morning nudge tags you in the channel with your open tasks.
You reply with a completion keyword
You post a message in the channel containing a completion word like "done" or "shipped".
Tickr auto-closes your tasks
Tickr detects the keyword and marks all your nudged tasks as done with a congratulations message.
Completion keywords
Any of these words in your reply trigger auto-close:
| Keyword |
|---|
done |
completed |
finished |
closed |
resolved |
shipped |
Example: If Tickr nudged you about "Fix login crash" and you reply "done", the task is automatically marked as done:
✅ *Fix login crash* marked as done! Great work @alice! 🎉
If the task is recurring, the next due date is appended:
✅ *Weekly standup review* marked as done! Great work @alice! 🎉 (next due 2026-03-01)
Non-completion responses
If your reply doesn't contain a completion keyword, Tickr records it as a progress update on all your nudged tasks. This means a casual reply like "Almost there, just fixing a test" becomes a tracked update.
ℹ️ Update quality applies
Non-completion responses are subject to update quality evaluation on eligible plans. Vague replies like "working on it" may get playful feedback asking for specifics.
Scope
Auto-close only applies to tasks that were included in the nudge you're replying to. If you have 5 tasks but only 3 were nudged, saying "done" closes the 3 nudged tasks, not all 5.
💡 Be specific if needed
If only some of your nudged tasks are done, use /tickr complete <task_id> for the specific task instead of a general reply. A general "done" reply closes everything that was nudged.
Closing comment prompts
When a task is marked as done without any update history, Tickr prompts for a brief closing comment. This captures what was accomplished for team visibility and historical reporting.
AI @mention path — Tickr asks before closing:
You: @Tickr close the checkout fix
Tickr: Before I close this out — what was accomplished? A quick note helps the team.
You: @Tickr the API was deployed and tested
Tickr: Task *Checkout fix* completed
Non-AI paths (Complete button, slash command, auto-close) — the task closes immediately, then Tickr sends you a private prompt (only visible to you) asking what was accomplished. You can reply with @Tickr to add a note, or simply ignore it.
If the task already has one or more progress updates, the prompt is skipped.
